James has over 12 years of nonprofit finance experience and currently is the CFO at IDEO.org, a non-profit that uses human-centered design to create products, services, and experiences that improve the lives of people living in poverty. Before joining IDEO.org, James held various finance roles at non-profits including Next Generation, Opportunity Institute, World Savvy, and Hispanic Scholarship Fund. James also ran his own consulting business offering financial services to small and midsize nonprofit organizations throughout the Bay Area. In addition to these roles, James also taught Social Studies at George Washington High School in San Francisco and was an Institutional Salesperson on the Asian equities desk at Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp (HSBC). While at George Washington, James coached two teams in the World Savvy Challenge.
James earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and has a Masters in Education from the University of San Francisco. When not at the office, James can be found running on the trails of Marin or enjoying some outdoor activity with his two sons, wife, and dogs.
