Kerry, an alumna of World Savvy’s 2011/2012 Bangladesh exchange, grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and now attends Davidson College in North Carolina. A religion major and Spanish minor, she plans to pursue a career in social work and/or public health while continuing to seek opportunities for interfaith collaboration. She is passionate about environmental justice, global health, and cross-cultural dialogue. As a Bonner Scholar, Kerry spends 140 hours each semester volunteering with a Charlotte-based non-profit; this past semester she particularly enjoyed tutoring ESL students and co-facilitating weekly nutritious cooking lessons at Refugee Support Services. Kerry also stays busy on campus by serving on the Bonner leadership team, performing with a Bhangra dance group, and co-leading Davidson’s Hillel chapter.
In addition to spending time with friends and family, she loves yoga, bike rides, hiking, reading, and writing. Her travels in Bangladesh with World Savvy, in Israel and Jordan during her gap year, and in Chile during a semester abroad are the experiences that have strongly shaped Kerry’s cosmovision and her desire to lead a simple, peaceful, and sustainable life.
