Crisis in Syria

 

English Language Learners, and recent immigrants themselves,  looked at the causes of the Syrian conflict, the experience of migrants fleeing the violence, and the worldwide response to the crisis. This website was built to educate others on the issue and use authentic language to express their personal feelings, and deep understanding of how these global issues impact local communities.

Going Public: The Experiences of Sexual Assault Victims

A blog that serves sexual assault victims in a  number of ways. From interviews of sexual assault victims coming out to friends and/ or familia to the personal reflections of the authors, this will hopefully be a positive resources for sexual assault victims seeking a community of people with similar experiences.

Operation: Identity

 

For this student,  exploring identity meant investigating and embracing the progress that the current generation has made towards accepting people who are not the majority, based on their race, class, gender or sexuality. To further understand the philosophy and ideas of adolescents on the topic of gender, this student interviewed a number of classmates to gather their their diverse perspectives, values, and beliefs. The result of the interviews work and the message this student wants to share with the world is creatively captured in these portraits

Harmonic Hearts

Harmonic Hearts

 

Frustrated by the fact that not all homeless and low income families with children have the opportunity to experience after school programs. These students focused on research about the positive outcomes of structured music programs. Harmonic Hearts organized a music festival at school, during which they collected donations and raise awareness about this issue and hope to raise enough funds to sponsor a series of music lessons for a student at a local music school. The team hopes that this becomes an annual school event.
