Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Iowa City, Iowa, Veronica grew up as a bilingual student learning Spanish at home and simultaneously learning English at school.  This childhood experience of being bilingual and bicultural drove her to become a bilingual teacher and provide an education and school experience different from her own.  Prior to joining World Savvy, Veronica spent five years collaborating, co-teaching, and coaching to support English Language Learners and Bilingual Advance Learners academic needs in Madison, WI.  She advocates and coaches around culturally and responsive teaching so each student can identify and connect with their education.  Veronica has a strong passion for art integration in support of student learning and has completed many projects with her students. She loves the enjoyment it brings to them and their learning.

Veronica earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in Art History and Museum Studies.   She completed her Masters from Edgewood College in Bilingual Education.

When not at work, Veronica enjoys art museums, reading, working on puzzles, spending time with family, or watching football.
