Carol Lewis

Before becoming a New York City teacher 10 years ago, Carol Lewis engaged students, educators and administrators as a yoga teacher, and author in residence at several middle schools in the Bronx and Rockland County, New York.  She spent 7 years teaching English Language Arts, then for one year taught incarcerated youth algebra, geometry and calculus via poetry, before creating for 6, 7 and 8th graders, the Global Connections course which honors the promise and distinction of youth as powerbrokers in our changing world.

Carol is also a member of the NYU Steinhardt ASD Nest Task Force which researches, develops and implements strategies to support the academic and social needs of students on the spectrum.  She is currently developing new ways to engage students in their own grace and power while finding time to write the sequel to her first novel, Flights of Annie.
