Gabe is an Equity Coordinator and Native American Cultural Liaison in Minnesota. Gabe has eight years of experience in urban, suburban, and rural districts, as well as a Master’s in Social Studies Education from the University of Minnesota. As a white passing Lantinx, he has experienced both the privilege of passing for white and the ramifications of being “othered.” This experience inspired him to enter education in the hope that those without his many privileges might be valued and honored, so that they can become their best self. In the classroom, some courses he has taught include African American Ethnic Studies and World History. In his equity work, he is passionate about amplifying students’ voices, growing cultural competency, and approaching systems through an equity lens.
