Julia Cowles is a corporate lawyer with over 20 years of experience spanning a broad range of corporate transactional and advisory matters. She has an extensive background in capital markets and corporate finance matters as well as experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial transactions and strategic and governance matters. Her practice has included significant work on cross-border transactions, principally for clients in Europe and Latin America. From 1998 to 2014, she was a partner at Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP, working in the firm’s offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Menlo Park.
Julia is active in community service and in providing pro bono legal support to nonprofit organizations, principally in the education and microfinance sectors. Her pro bono legal work has included work with World Savvy on a wide range of matters, including its Global Competence Certificate program. She is a mentor for, and enthusiastic supporter of, Year Up Bay Area and Friends For Youth. Julia is a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamilton College and of the Board of Directors of The Deutsche Bank Microcredit Development Fund. She is a graduate of Hamilton College and holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
