August 10, 2021

World Savvy is once again in the running to present at SXSW EDU! If we make the cut, next year we’ll present our ideas to address some of education’s most pressing issues in partnership with educational experts across the globe. BUT we need your help! We’ve applied to host four sessions at SXSW EDU 2022. Now it’s up to you to vote for them. You can read about each session and click the links below to vote.

Centering Student Voice for Global Competence

Amazing things happen when students drive their learning. Students who have a voice and choice in what they learn are more engaged — they pay closer attention, process information more effectively, and take ownership over their learning. World Savvy and Norwood Public Schools in Massachusetts have partnered to center student voice in the learning experience as the district works to more deeply embed global competence throughout classrooms, schools and community. This talk will feature the perspectives of instructional leaders and highlight their journey to creating a learning environment that prioritizes student voice through project-based learning.

Local Engagement for Global Citizenship

Join World Savvy and the Institute for Humane Education as we connect across organizations and sectors to explore education through the lens of changemaking and solutionaries. It’s possible to build a just, sustainable, and humane world. Educating young people to identify and collaboratively solve systemic problems in their communities, country, and world is one of the most powerful ways to achieve a healthy future. We’ll talk about successful approaches which are enlivening classrooms, making learning deeply relevant and meaningful, and preparing students to be engaged, joyful changemakers and global citizens, while also networking to deepen our connections with those individuals and organizations working in the sector to advance these goals.
